Dance Instructor (Hip-Hop)
Morgan Summers is a lifetime dancer from Panama City, Florida. Originally training in classical styles at Tonie’s Dance Workshop, she started her journey with foundational knowledge in styles such as ballet, jazz, and contemporary with a focus on performance. It is here that she also began apprenticing as an instructor and choreographer.
In 2013 Morgan moved to Orlando for school and discovered Central Florida’s urban dance culture. After performing with the crew RUKUS at UCF, Morgan was offered a position as a founding member of the Orlando-based megacrew theSQUADFL. It is with this company that Morgan has made it to finals at World of Dance, and been a defending champion at Prelude South for the past three years. TheSQUAD also performs on the world stage at Hip Hop International annually, and have placed in US finals for two years.
Morgan is active in the local dance community, and has trained in hip hop styles such as Waacking, House, Popping, Locking, Krump, and Dancehall with respected dancers in each style. Some of her mentors include Benjamin “Ben10” Phan, Clarissa “CRox” Turner, Lorena Valenzuela, Tarek Barrera-Malo, Angel Guzman, and Chad Frierson.
Inspired by her mentor’s willingness to share their knowledge, Morgan joins the Songbirds team with the goal of sharing the joys of all these different styles of movement with the dancers of tomorrow.
